2006 Year End Awards


Congratulations to Amy Potts and Flawless Footwork for winning the 2006 Desert Reining Horse Association Year End Rookie Championship! Amy was presented with a beautiful Championship buckle, and the high point rookie trophy saddle.

Troy Heikes was awarded the year end high point prize for riding Little Dual Dunnit to the Arizona Quarter Horse Association Junior Reining Championship. Congratulations to owner Sherry Coakes!

 
2006 NRHA Futurity, Oklahoma City, OK
Congratulations to Amy Potts, who finished the year with another beautiful run on her horse, Flawless Footwork. Amy placed 4th in the Prestigious Rookie of the year class.
 
2006 California Reining Horse Challenge

Congratulations to Bill Coburn, from Sherman Oaks CA, on continuing his winning streak! He was the Non Pro Futurity Champion in all 3 divisions riding his stud A Whiz Dandy. Bill won a Lawson Bronze, 2 Morrison Bronzes, 2 championship buckles and the trophy saddle.

In the Non Pro Derby, Bill was 3rd in the Limited Non Pro on his mare, Footworks Fashion.


Assistant trainer Nathan Morton won the Limited Open Reserve Futurity Championship buckle riding Nick Chavez's nice stud, Mr Shining Spark.

 
2006 Scottsdale Classic

Kim Dooley won the $2,000 non pro class on her mare Dun It So Pretty, and was Reserve Champion in the Novice Horse Non Pro class.

Shaunda Ruckman was Co-Champion in the Limited Non Pro class on Little Dual Dunnit.

Amy Potts was Reserve Champion in the Rookie class on Flawless Footwork.

Bill Coburn was the Limited Non Pro Reserve Futurity Champion on A Whiz Dandy, and was 3rd in the Non Pro and Int Non Pro Futurity.

Nathan Morton's show debut with us was exciting, taking home 3rd in the Limited Open Futurity on A Little Electric, owned by Roger and Glenda Parks.

 
2006 Las Vegas Show + Western Affiliates

<< Carlie McKinzie and her gelding RU Missin Diamonds were Champions in the Non Pro, and the Intermediate Non Pro divisions of the Derby. Carlie marked a 225 1/2 for the win!! She won a beautiful championship saddle and buckles for each division.

Amy Potts continued her winning streak on her gelding Flawless Footwork. The duo had a beautiful ride and was Co-Champion of the Affiliate Qualifier Rookie and the Rookie class.

Her affiliate win gave her a shot at winning a great Elite 4-horse trophy trailer, along with the other affiliate winners. As fate would have it, Amy's luck held out and her key opened the lock to the really nice trailer!

Also placing in the top 4, and qualifying for the Affiliate Finals were Ryann McKinzie and Dances with Cows for the Youth 13 & under class, and Shaunda Ruckman and Little Dual Dunnit in the Limited Non Pro class.

 
2006 KRHA Sunflower Slide- Topeka, KS

<< Bill Coburn, Sherman Oaks, CA was the Ltd Non Pro Futurity Champion, and was 3rd in the Int NP and Non Pro Futurities.

He rode his 3 year old stallion, Whiz Dandy. Whiz Dandy is by Topsail Whiz and out of A Hollywood Dandy.

Troy Heikes was 4th in the Open Futurity, on Sally Brown's Whiztacular. Whiztacular is by Topsail Whiz and out of Jacs Maple Sugar. They earned $2,000. Troy was also 6th in the Open Futurity on Nick Chavez' Mr Shining Spark.

 
2006 RMRHA Summer Slide- Denver, CO
At the Denver Summer Slide, Troy Heikes was the Reserve Champion in the Open Stallion Stakes Futurity, and tie 4th in the Open Futurity Finals riding Sayos Shining Gun, earning over $5,800. This super nice palomino mare is by Sayos Shining Sun and out of Squirt Gun, and is owned and raised by Darlyne Woodward.
 
2006 Reining By The Bay-Woodside, CA

<< Carlie McKinzie, of East Wenatchee, WA won the $1,000 added Novice Horse Non Pro class on Sunday with a score of 74, on her horse RU Missing Diamonds. She won the high point circuit award for the week for the class, taking home prize money, a saddle, champion buckle and a Morrison Bronze trophy.

 

 

>>Shaunda Ruckman, of Scottsdale, AZ was Circuit Champion for the week on Little Dual Dunnit in the Limited Non Pro class, winning prize money, the Champion saddle and buckle. Shaunda was also reserve circuit champion in the $1,000 added Non Pro classes, and intermediate Non Pro classes winning prize money and 2 Reserve Champion buckles. Shaunda has won 6 buckles in the last month!

 

Amy Potts, of Scottsdale, AZ won the Rookie class on Sunday. She had a dynamic 72 ½ run on her horse Flawless Footwork. Amy ended up Reserve Circuit Champion in the Rookie, winning the reserve champion buckle.

 
2006 NRHA Derby-Oklahoma City, OK

Non pro clients Carlie McKinzie of East Wenatchee, WA and Kim Dooley of Scottsdale, AZ were Co-Reserve Champions in the Intermediate Non Pro Derby finals. Carlie was riding RU Missin Diamonds and Kim was riding Smokin Dually. Both shared 4th in the Non Pro division final standings, and shared the APHA bonus also. Carlie earned $11,831 and Kim totaled $10,845 in winnings for the Derby.

<< Another non pro client, Lisa Cover of Ardmore, OK, placed 9th in the non pro Derby finals on Mr Chocoholic and took home $2,533.

2006 National Reining Breeders Classic-Katy, TX

<< Kim Dooley of Scottsdale, AZ was Co-Champion in the Non Pro Classic finals, and champion of the Intermediate Non Pro finals on her horse Smokin Dually. Kim won a trailer, 2 saddles, 2 buckles and over $42,164!

Another Heikes non pro, Lisa Cover of Ardmore, OK, finished 13th in the non pro classic finals and won $3,154.

2006 All American Reining Classic-Las Vegas, NV

<< Amy Potts of Scottsdale AZ was Champion of the Rookie Class, on her horse Flawless Footwork. Amy has won 4 Rookie classes so far this year, and 3 buckles!

Assistant trainer Dave Zimmerman was 3rd in the Limited Open classic Derby finals, and 11th in the Intermediate Open finals on Sporty Starlight, owned by George and Cindy McKinzie of East Wenatchee, WA and earned $709.

Non Pro Carlie McKinzie of East Wenatchee, WA was the Reserve Champion in the Intermediate Non Pro Classic Derby finals, and 4th in the non pro classic finals on her horse RU Missin Diamonds. Carlie earned a total paycheck of $8,422.

Ryan McKinzie once again won the youth 13 & under class on her horse, Dancing With Cows.

 
2006 Cactus Classic-Scottsdale, AZ

<< Troy Heikes was 3rd in the Open Classic Derby, riding Nestle Quik Chic, owned by Buck Hazledine of Maple Plain, MN and won $4,650.

Assistant trainer Dave Zimmerman was 4th in the Limited Open Classic Derby, and 11th in the Intermediate Open Classic Derby riding Peek A Chic Olena, owned by Veronika Miller of Snowmass, CO and won $759.

Non Pro Lisa Cover of Ardmore, OK won the Non Pro Classic Derby on her horse Mr Chocoholic and took home $10,000 along with a championship saddle and buckle.

Ryan McKinzie of East Wenatchee, WA was champion in the youth 13 and under division on her horse, Dancing With Cows.
